QBR Camp Sessions Filling Up
Reserve Your Choice Location

Another reminder that June is coming up fast, so get your application in for the early June QBR Camp sessions in Arkansas, June 9-12, and Georgia, June 14-17.

The Arkansas training session will be held at Henderson State University facilities in Arkadelphia. The Georgia schedule will inaugurate the partnership with Riverside Military Academy, in Gainesville.

Last summer, a total of six QBR Camp locations saw a combined staff of 117 coaches establish the best working relationship with campers. Or we could say the QBR Coaching staff had a combined total of 927 years experience!

Again, the coach/camper ratio will be one coach per ten players for optimum effect. "This builds the desired atmosphere for excellent training," said QBR Camp president, Dr. Laird Hayes.

The next two QBR Camps are slated for June 19-22 in California at California Lutheran University; June 30-July 3 at the College of New Jersey.

The 2010 QBR Camp schedule finishes with the Ohio session July 5-8 at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso and on July 10-13 the second California QBR Camp at California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, California.

Get your reservation in by calling the QBR Camp office, toll-free, 866-486-4400. Or send an email to: info@footballcamp125.com. 2010 marks the 46th year of QBR Camp as the #1 football specialty camp in America.

INNOVATION FROM GATORADE

In order to better serve the desire of many athletes, Gatorade will be removing high fructose corn syrup from both Gatorade Thirst Quencher and G2® over the next few months. By replacing HFCS with sucrose and dextrose [a blend of sucrose, glucose and fructose], we can offer improved taste and premium quality without affecting the performance athletes have come to expect from us for over 40 years. For more information and upcoming news on Gatorade’s latest scientific innovations, please visit www.gatorade.com.

Keep your G up and be proud! You belong to something bigger now.

QBR COACH/CAMPER PRO-FILE

Dad Sees Chance Favors Those Prepared For It

When the senior starting quarterback for Little Rock Christian went down with a season ending injury the first game of the 2008 season, Junior quarterback Jesse Stone got the chance he had been working for.

The commitment to working hard at every practice, memorizing the playbook and motivating his team finally came to fruition.QBR Camp Coach Boyd and Jesse Stone He led the Warriors to a winning season and secured his spot to lead his team during his senior year.

A coach with QBR Camp, Boyd Boshears, noticed Jesse's raw talent and asked his father if he would be open to training Jesse in the off-season.

Absolutely, I responded, and Jesse went to work. Coach Boshears worked Jesse on the fundamentals and taught Jesse the 'right' way to throw the ball and have a confident stance and presence in the pocket.

In June 2009, Jesse attended the Arkansas QBR Camp and gained an even greater understanding of the game through the committed group of coaches that have become the backbone of QBR and the numerous great quarterbacks the camp has had the privilege to coach.

Jesse took his skills into the fall 2009 season and led the Warriors to the second round of the playoffs. Jesse was selected All-Conference and All-State as a result of his senior season. The skills Jesse learned garnered the attention of several Division II schools and the recruiting process began.

After considering a number of offers, Jesse signed a scholarship with Arkansas Tech University. Known for its aggressive throwing game and somewhat of a west coast style offense, it made a perfect fit for Jesse. Undoubtedly, the skills and fundamentals that Jesse learned at QBR Camp were the foundation for his continued playing at the college level.

I would recommend QBR to anyone who wants to go the extra mile and learn from the best.

--Mark Stone, Jesse's Father

P.S. Jesse has also won All-State and All Conference honors.

TIPS FROM THE BERKELEY WELLNESS LETTER

Self-Care: Though nothing cures a cold, some home remedies can help: hot drinks, especially chicken soup, can increase the flow of nasal secretions. Tea with honey temporarily relieves a sore throat. Saltwater gargles (a quarter teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water) are also helpful, as are homemade saline nose-drops (same formula as the gargle).

Fitness: For the best sit-up, keep your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor, and come up to no more than a 30 degree angle. Skip those old-fashioned straight-leg sit-ups; these can make you overarch and thus strain your lower back.

Food and Nutrition: Many large observational studies have linked high-sodium diets to hypertension (high blood pressure), which increases the risk of heart attacks and stroke. Reducing sodium lowers blood pressure on average. The American Medical Association, the American Heart Association and the Institute of Medicine recommend that all Americans keep their sodium intake low to reduce the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
