FROM THE QBR CAMP STAFF

Many thanks for your support and sharing with others why QBR Camp is the #1 football camp for up-and-coming players. It's where the fundamentals are stressed and practiced and studied at nine field sessions and five position meetings over the four days with college, high school and youth coaches and a 1:10 coach to camper ratio.
All my best wishes to you for a happy holiday season and successful 2010-2011 season.
Please let us know by emailing QBR Camp at info@footballcamp125.com how things are progressing and any awards you may receive over the course of the fall campaign.

QBR COACH PRO-FILE
by Coach Cliff Farrar
My name is Cliff Farrar, Head Football Coach at Buena High School in Ventura, California. I have coached at the QBR Camp since 1992. We have sent many quarterbacks and receivers over the years and each of them has improved their techniques and mental aspects of the game. They have come back with a better knowledge of their position and an added confidence in their ability to perform at a higher level.
This transformation is done in a short time – 3 and a half days and 9 practices – because QBR has no more than 12 players in a group and most of the time 10 or less. I’ve seen John DeFries, the Head Coach of the California camp, get on the phone and hire more coaches when our groups were going to be larger than 12. We always even our groups out and if a player needs to be moved from one level to another we make that move to ensure that the player gets the maximum instruction at his level. Players are drilled with proven skills at each practice and are encouraged to use this drills once they get back home. Coaches are available before and after practices to help on a one to one basis.
Another area where players are helped is in meetings where we show them the different coverages that defenses will run and reads to beat the coverages. We also show them videos of themselves doing certain drills and make constructive critiques. One meeting is also spent for the older players who are thinking about playing at the next level on how to get to the NCAA Clearinghouse website and the classes that are needed to meet Division I requirements; Division 2 and 3, and NAIA, and Junior College requirements are also touched upon.
Players are expected to be at all practices and meetings; attendance is taken at each and if a player is missing, a search is put in motion right away to find him. The players are made to feel safe and comfortable in an environment that is new to a very large percentage of them. For many this is their first time away from home without a parent and QBR Camp does everything it can to make this a positive experience.
On a final note, as I mentioned earlier I have taken players to QBR Camp for years and our players have always come back with a positive experience and improved skills. Three years ago I took over at Buena High where the football program was struggling.
I took one of our QB’s, Robert Munoz, to QBR Camp for two years. In his senior year Robert set seven school records and let us to a 10-2 record, the best a Buena team had done in over six years! This year our starting JV QB and his back-up both attended QBR Camp last summer as well as our starting Frosh QB who led them to a 9-1 record and the Channel League Championship. We plan on taking at least 3 QB’s and 6 receivers to camp this summer.
I highly recommend QBR Camp and hope to see you there this summer.
Go Bulldogs!

QBR Camper Mailbag
Dear Dr. Hayes and QBR Camp Staff:
As a coach, I was very impressed by the practices and the spirit and collegiality of the campers and the
QBR Coaching staff.
Our son will definitely return to QBR Camp next summer. His nine-year-old brother is counting the days
until he can attend QBR!
Sincerely,
Kevin Roddy, parent/coach
Welcome Dr. John Mitchell, QBR Camp Fitness Master!
Fitness: During the upcoming holidays, keeping your fitness program, and yourself, in top shape is every more important. Family, friends and social gatherings tend to disrupt our fitness schedules. Writing down date and time to hit the gym will greatly assist you keeping on track in the months to come. Commit to that important fitness-appointment!
Wellness/Self-Care: As the winter months approach, the air gets very dry and your skin will be more susceptible to not only drying out, but also to infections. Moisturize, drink more water, and consume veggies/fruits that contain more water. This will keep your skin in tip top shape inside and out.
Healthy Eating: These holiday months are VERY difficult to not overeat or worse, to overeat the wrong foods. Treats, high carbohydrate foods, fatty meals, late night eating, leftovers, and influence from others to "let your diet slip just this once," all contribute to the weight gain during holiday months. Eat more nutrient-dense veggies/fruits to satisfy your hunger and eat slowly to let your appetite catch-up!
